In daily life we act on our choices for being with others or not, often without much reflection on our reason for choosing or our strategy for being chosen. In this session we will have the opportunity to explore our choosing process in slow motion using a sociometric criterion relating to our theme ie. "Of the people present here this evening with whom would you like to have a brief conversation about your aspirations and dreams?".
As in other Sociometry Salons we will display our choices using a process called an action sociogram (this involves indicating our choices by lightly touching other participants on the shoulder). The choice data will be gathered from each participant, and if time permits after the paired conversations, the session participants will be provided with a paper based copy of the sociogram (a diagram showing the pattern of choices in the group eg. mutuality, most chosen, least chosen, centrality, sub-groups etc). We will then have the opportunity to discuss that pattern and what it means about how choice is distributed through the group.
