Partners in Global Renewal

SLaM have been invited to become partners (click here) with the Bali Institute for Global Renewal (BIGR). The BIGR is the first world learning center that engages multicultural leadership and facilitation training, deep dialogue, indigenous wisdom, global consciousness, intergenerational activism and other action-oriented skills and training that empowers individuals, groups and organizations in their quest to make a difference in the world. BIGR includes a consortium of international organizations, corporations, NGOs, universities, thought leaders and consultants who are invested in advancing new forms of leadership training, intergenerational collaboration, nonviolent conflict resolution and social activism as part of a worldview that promotes a sustainable, humane and culturally-diverse life for all. For more info on the work of the BIGR click here.

Over the last two years the Institute has produced two QUEST FOR GLOBAL HEALING conferences and again, this year, an other extraordinary gathering will take place in Bali on August 1-8, 2007 called "Awakening Global Action. The focus of the conference will be: Leadership, Indigenous Wisdom and Dialogue for a Transforming World," and it promises to be the best yet! Special features of this year's program includes intergenerational and multicultural dialogue, intensive leadership training, two full days of service work in remote areas of Bali, indigenous wisdom learning, innovative thinking and action planning for civic engagement upon returning to one's home country, and numerous other unique experiences.

SLaM can see many ways in which the work and outlook of BIGR parallels with the intentions of SLaM. It is in recognition of this that BIGR has sought to partner with SLaM. It is through alliances such as this that renewal and fellowship are possible in our world.  More than 1,000 people from over 40 countries have attended the two conferences in Bali in 2004 and 2006, and they anticipate up to 500 people of all ages will attend from around the world in 2007.

SLaM would like to endorse this conference to our membership and friends and hope that you can take advantage of our close proximity to represent Australia at this significant international event. Be sure to visit the website at www.baliinstitute.org Should you plan to go we would love to hear from you and would be delighted to put you in touch with other SLaM members who are attending.
